The wonder of water, sugar and salt. The perfect products from the pharmacy

The official isotonic drinking solutions are available in the pharmacy. It is great to have some at home, especially if there are small children or seniors in the family, where rehydration can be critically important.
In Switzerland Elotrans is covered by health insurance if there is a doctor's prescription.
Elotrans mixed with 200 ml of water (or tea, etc.) creates the perfect isotonic drinking solution.
4.00 g glucose (sugar)
0.70 g sodium chloride (table salt)
0.59 g sodium citrate dihydrate
0.30 g potassium chloride
Today, 20 sachets of Elotrans cost 8.45 CHF.
I used to recommend Normolytoral when Elotrans was not available.
4.00 g glucose
0.35 g sodium chloride
0.59 g sodium citrate dihydrate
0.30 g potassium chloride
Today, 10 sachets of Normolytoral cost 9.30 CHF in Switzerland, and the insurance does not cover the cost.
As a general practitioner, I regularly provide these products to my patients in cases of dehydration or for general circulatory support. Young, tall men experiencing dizziness and extreme discomfort due to an infection recover quickly. A young lawyer who had too much sun and developed severe headaches was symptom-free after 200 ml of isotonic drinking solution. Elderly patients without a sense of thirst can be quickly refreshed. I even saw a YouTuber with unexplained syncope (fainting). He drinks isotonic drinking solution in the morning and then does not faint. A little extra fluid in the blood has a good effect on circulation. These drinking solutions work almost as quickly as infusions!
If something can help and is otherwise harmless, it can be tried!
